End of an era: Jennifer Lopez, pictured performing in Italy last week, has parted ways with Sony Music after ten years

Jennifer Lopez has confirmed that she is no longer signed to Sony Music.

The singer announced today that she had left the record company after more than ten years as one of its artists.

And she revealed that she had already signed to a new label - but declined to say which one.

Yesterday, her manager Benny Medina revealed that she had split from Sony with Jennifer, 40, confirming the news in a statement today.

She said: "I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion inregards to my next album, titled Love.

"I have belonged to the Sonyfamily since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we"vehad great success.

"I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities withSony/Epic up to this point, and we have both reached friendly termsabout my departure from the label.

"I"m also happy to say that we"ve found a new home for my albumLove and that it is slated for release in the summer of 2010."

Although her new label was not revealed, reports have said that she has recently been in talks with Island Def Jam.

Although neither Sony or Jennifer disclosed the reason for the split, reports have suggested that it wasn"t an amicable ending and Sony dropped her after being not willing to take a chance on her new album.

Her two recent singles, Louboutins and Fresh Out Of The Oven, were flops on the U.S. Billboard singles chart and Sony were not willing to take a gamble on her Love album, that it feared would be a flop.

Music industry sources said Jennifer may now try and release the album online.

They said: "It may be her last resort to take control of a poorsituation."
